Chess A2Z is delighted to share that co-founder and coach Zoey Tang has won the 2026 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, held in St. Louis, Missouri.
Many members of the Chess A2Z community have watched Zoey’s journey over the years: as a competitive player, but also as a coach, mentor, volunteer, and friend. During her acceptance speech, Zoey took the opportunity to thank her friends and students for being part of her chess journey. Although chess is played across the board one opponent at a time, every player’s journey is shaped by the people who support, challenge, and encourage them along the way.
Zoey’s achievement reflects years of dedication, perseverance, and an enduring love for the game. Just as importantly, it reflects the value of a strong and supportive chess community.
