How to Get a USCF ID
(and Why It’s Needed)
If your child is playing in a rated chess tournament, they will need a US Chess (USCF) membership. This gives them an official USCF ID.
Don’t worry. This is a simple one-time step to get started.
Why Is a USCF ID Needed?
A USCF ID allows your child to:
- Have their games officially rated
- Track their progress over time
- Participate in rated tournaments
Most Chess A2Z tournaments are rated, so a USCF membership is required.
