The April Open was another great day of chess. We had a solid group of players this time, and a lot of the sections were actually very close. Several placements came down to tiebreaks in the end.
It was especially encouraging to see many returning players continue to improve from previous events, along with new players gaining valuable tournament experience. The combination of familiar faces and newcomers created a nice dynamic, with players pushing each other while also building connections within the community.
Things ran smoothly throughout the day, and between rounds, a lot of players were reviewing games together, talking through ideas, and just enjoying the process. That’s always something we’re happy to see.
Thanks again to all the parents, volunteers, and coaches for helping everything run well.
